What is EDC
EDC Ltd. is primarily a financial institution established by the Government of Goa to promote industrial investment within the State (earlier Union Territory). EDC has been assisting units located in the Union Territory of Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli also.
EDC Ltd, earlier known as Economic Development Corporation of Goa, Daman & Diu Limited was incorporated on 12th March 1975 as a limited company to act as the State Industrial Development Corporation. It has also been accorded the twin status of SFC by IDBI and SIDBI.
During
the first decade after inception EDC took upon entrepreneurial role to
pursue development and growth of specific industrial sectors like pharmaceuticals,
light engineering, electronics, telecommunications etc. Subsequent to
economic liberalisation in the nineties, the Corporation continues its
financial lending operations as a main activity.
